There is / there are
We use There is when you indicate that you find a thing
or somebody or something in a specific place.
Examples:
There is a man in the office.
There is a tree in my garden.
We also use there is for uncountable nouns:
There isn’t any butter in the fridge.
There is some money in my pocket.

We use there are when you indicate that you find more than one thing in a specific place. For example:
There are 3 students in the English class.
There are eight flowers in my garden.
We also use there are when the noun is countable:
Are there any apples in the kitchen?
Yes, there are.
There are many flowers in my garden.
There aren’t many books in my house.
I may go to the school library.
