La Universidad Veracruzana a través de sus centros de idiomas ha abierto nueve centros de autoacceso (CADI). Estos CADI son usados en su mayoría por los estudiantes que están aprendiendo inglés 1 y 2, las cuales son experiencias eductavias obligatorias en todos los programas de licenciatura. Este libro ha sido escrito por Luz Edith Herrera quien mientras trabajaba como asesor en uno de estos centros, se dio cuenta de diferentes problemáticas. Las preguntas que guían su libro son entonces: ¿cómo perciben la educación autónoma los estudiantes que aprenden inglés como lengua extranejera?, ¿cuál es la diferencia entre los estudiantes que deciden aprender con este modo y los que no?
The University of Veracruz through its Language Centres has opened nine self-access Centres, in Spanish: Centro de Autoacceso de Idiomas (CADI). These CADIs are used by students who are studying English 1 and 2, which are compulsory subjects in all Bachelor degree programs. They are also used by people studying a foreign language at the Language Centres. While working as a counsellor at these centers the author reflected on several issues: How do students studying English as a foreign language perceive the self-instruction mode? What is the difference in their perceptions between students who chose to study on this mode and those ones who had to do it? What is the difference in their perceptions between students in basic levels and those in more advanced ones? What is the students’ attitude towards this innovation –the self-instruction mode of learning and the use of the Self-access Centre?
