Research Interests: Emblematics, Rhetoric, Symbolic Culture, Colonialism in Latin America, Book History, Publishing Studies.


Semblanza: Bachelor in Communication from the Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila, Master in Literature from the Universidad Veracruzana and studied a Master in Hispanic Philology at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), in Madrid; PhD in
Literature from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. He is currently a member of the National System of Researchers. He has a wealth of experience as a publisher, having served as Editorial Director at Universidad Veracruzana and Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS). His professional career includes skills in strategic planning, editing, metadata, digital publications, and open access. Additionally, he has dedicated part of his career to studying image and literature in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. He also has actively participated in the foundation of the Altexto Network and Cempro, a copyright collective management society. He is a member of the advisory boards of Altexto and the Asociación de Editoriales Universitarias de América Latina y el Caribe (Eulac).
His academic work has specialized in Mexican and Novohispanic literature, mainly in visual discourses, symbolic culture, public festivities, the use of ekphrasis and various rhetorical manifestations in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In 2021 he received the award
of Publishing Merit UANL for his work within the Editorial UV. His latest book is Fiesta, duelo y ascetismo. Cultura simbólica en la Nueva España y el México Independiente published by the Benemérita Universidad Autonoma De Puebla.
