Description

The purpose of the Doctorate in Visual Arts is to professionalize the pure artist within the university artistic field so that they acquire and apply the tools developed during the postgraduate degree in other knowledge. The knowledge acquired will have its bases in artistic production as a form of research, in this way theory and practice would be united in favor of comprehensive training. From the beginning of the postgraduate course, the mere artist will propose a research project that will give him the opportunity to (a) generate an integrative vision of his knowledge; (b) explore and create university artistic works; (c) reflect on its artistic context from the search for permanent and multidimensional knowledge; (d) recognize cultural diversity and earthly identity; (e) structure methodologies and strategies applicable to the disciplinary artistic fields of the two-dimensional – painting, graphics, design and photography -, three-dimensional sculpture, ceramics, installation and settings -, and audiovisual – cinema, video and animation -. Everything mentioned above is intrinsically related to the viewer’s reception and the interpretive anchoring (Barthes, 1980) of the artistic process as a work.
