Studying Spanish as a foreign language involves an educational reality that requires a methodology that encompasses the possibility of achieving proposed goals in the definition of teaching objectives, material selection and activities to be carried out as well as in the evaluation method and all resources through which students acquire the communicative proficiency in the target language. The objective of this course is to reinforce the grammar aspects acquired in the previous level. It involves improving the ability to speak about the past, even considering some complex aspects; making emphasis on the subjunctive mood, especially referring to the past; and, finally, increasing the ability to talk about what other people do, think, want, wish or feel.

This course is addressed to students who wish to improve their Spanish writing ability. The main objective is for students to exercise this ability using grammatically appropriate resources in order to get a better proficiency in this activity and be able to create descriptive, narrative, and expositive short texts that can be coherent, with the minimum of spelling, grammatical and vocabulary mistakes possible. This course is for students with low intermediate and intermediate level.
This course is based on the continuing writing practice with the purpose of providing students with enough elements to communicate in written Spanish. It seeks for the student to learn not just techniques to develop this skill but also a global knowledge of the language and the world it represents. It is a workshop where students have the opportunity to reaffirm their Spanish knowledge, acquire vocabulary from different areas of knowledge in its own context, compare grammatical aspects of both English and Spanish and put them into practice when translating. This course deals with the development of Mexican literature during the XX century. We will view this development since the perspectives of continuity and rupture. The course sets short stories in the context of the historic process of Mexico. Mexico is one of the countries that are made up by a cultural diversity. This diversity includes all the ethnic groups and the rural and urban societies. The main purpose of this course is for students to learn about institutional structures of Mexican cultures (social, political, economic, religious, and educational). Students will learn concepts about their origins, development, ways of functioning and their effects on national projects. Some of the topics the course will deal with are cultural diversity, Mexican social problems, cultural institutions, national project, Mexican folklore and identities. The objective of this course is to provide students with the necessary tools to get a first approach to Náhuatl language. Besides Náhuatl classes, this course includes a visit to a native community where this language is spoken, so students will have the opportunity to practice what they have learnt in a real environment. This course is designed to help students understand basic photography notions and put them into practice. Photography will be addressed as an art. Students will learn how to use 35mm cameras, how to judge a picture’s composition and lighting and how to develop and print black and white photos.
This course will review the social and cultural diversity that builds up Mexico, going through the different influences that have transformed the native cultures. With the aim of providing students with a general knowledge about the cultural process in Mexico that allows them to set in a context, their intercultural experience in this country, the course approaches Mexican representative artistic manifestations pertaining to the high class culture and to the popular one. The program of this course concerns with a long period of time which begins when small groups of hunters and gatherers from the center and north of Asia; behind the pleistocene fauna, arrives to the American continent, and finished with the fall of Aztec Empire, by hands of his enemies, ruled by Hernán Cortés in 1521. The students will increase their knowledge on the Ancient Civilizations of America thinking them as part of the history of the mankind. This knowledge can be useful in the understanding of the current sociocultural diversity.

The course will try to highlight the most important facts and processes along almost five centuries of history. The course will focus on the evolution of the main social groups that inhabited Mexico, that is to say ethnic groups, Black population and Spaniards. We will underline the ethnic groups participation during different periods of time and their relation with the Mestizos (Mixed populations) and the official Government until today. We will finish the course analyzing the ethnic participation in the Zapatist movement after 1994 and how the Mexican politics, economy and government have changed since then.

Este curso intenta que el alumno desarrolle una capacidad comunicativa que incluya la identificación sonora del español en su uso cotidiano, el conocimiento y uso de expresiones específicas y populares; así como la ampliación del léxico. Este curso es para estudiantes de nivel intermedio bajo e intermedio.
Este curso tiene como finalidad que el alumno aprenda a expresarse con fluidez y precisión en español a través de la práctica de aspectos gramaticales y comunicativos en contextos reales, además de que adquiera o desarrolle estrategias comunicativas que le permitan una mejor competencia y actuación en la lengua española; así como que conozca costumbres, tradiciones y expresiones de la cultura en la cual se encuentra inmerso. Este curso es para estudiantes de nivel intermedio alto, avanzado y perfeccionamiento.

Es un taller de traducción donde el estudiante tiene la oportunidad de reafirmar sus conocimientos del español, adquirir vocabulario de diversas áreas dentro de su propio contexto, comparar los aspectos gramaticales tanto de la lengua inglesa como de la española y ponerlos en práctica en el momento de traducir un texto. En el curso se enseñará al estudiante técnicas de lectura, redacción, traducción, algunos conocimientos de gramática comparada del inglés y el español que lo ayudarán a resolver ciertos problemas que encontrará al momento de traducir. México es uno de los países que está conformado por una gran diversidad cultural, en ella se engloba la plurietnicidad y el conjunto de sociedades rurales y urbanas. El objetivo principal de este curso es que el alumno conozca, a grandes rasgos, la estructura institucional (social, política, económica, religiosa y educativa) de las culturas mexicanas. Tendrá nociones de su origen, desarrollo y funcionamiento, así como de sus repercusiones en los proyectos nacionales. Algunos de los temas que se abordará en este curso son la diversidad cultural y problemas sociales de México, las instituciones culturales, los proyectos nacionales, así como el folklor mexicano y las identidades. Este curso es para estudiantes de nivel intermedio alto, avanzado y perfeccionamiento.
Este curso tiene como objetivo proporcionar al estudiante las herramientas necesarias para un primer acercamiento a la lengua náhuatl. El curso comprende, además de la enseñanza de la lengua náhuatl, visitas a una comunidad indígena con el objeto de practicar la lengua de estudio con hablantes nativos en el ambiente natural. Este curso es para estudiantes de nivel intermedio, intermedio alto, avanzado y perfeccionamiento.
Este curso está diseñado para ayudar al estudiante a entender los conceptos fundamentales de la fotografía y a ponerlos en práctica al momento de disparar la cámara, revelar e imprimir en blanco y negro. Se considerará a la fotografía como una forma de arte. Los estudiantes aprenderán a utilizar cámaras de 35 mm, a juzgar la composición y la iluminación, a revelar e imprimir películas blanco y negro, también se discutirán aspectos como el significado y la presentación de fotografías y presentaciones.
Se revisará la diversidad socio-cultural que conforma al país, reconociendo las distintas influencias que han transformado las culturas autóctonas y se acerca a las manifestaciones estéticas representativas de México, tanto de la alta cultura como de la cultura popular, con la finalidad de lograr un conocimiento general sobre el proceso cultural mexicano que le permita contextualizar de la mejor manera su experiencia intercultural en México. Algunos de los temas que se abordan en este curso son: las culturas antiguas de México, la época de la colonia, festividades religiosas, muralismo prehispánico, así como temas relacionados con el mestizaje, indigenismo, urbanidad y ruralismo. El programa de este curso trata sobre un largo periodo en el tiempo, que comienza cuando pequeños grupos de cazadores y recolectores del centro y norte de Asia llegan al continente americano y termina con la caída del Imperio Azteca a manos de sus enemigos comandados por Hernán Cortés en 1521. Los estudiantes incrementarán sus conocimientos sobre las antiguas civilizaciones del continente americano, considerándolas como parte de la historia de la humanidad. Este conocimiento puede ser útil para la comprensión de la diversidad sociocultural actual.

El curso intentará destacar los hechos y procesos más importantes a lo largo de casi cinco siglos de historia. Se concentrará en la evolución de los principales grupos sociales que habitaron México, es decir grupos étnicos, población de color y españoles. Se señalará la participación de los grupos étnicos durante diferentes periodos y su relación con los mestizos y el Gobierno hasta nuestros días. Se terminará el curso analizando la participación indígena en el movimiento Zapatista después de 1994 y como la política, economía y el gobierno mexicano han cambiado desde entonces.

El objetivo de este curso es que los estudiantes conozcan la realidad del ambiente del mundo empresarial en México, tales como los problemas que enfrentan las compañías mexicanas, los nuevos tratados de Libre Comercio firmados por México, los programas de fomento del Gobierno Mexicano para apoyar a las empresas, así como entender la forma de hacer negocios en México.
El programa de estudio independiente ofrece los beneficios de un curso privado en cualquier tema relacionado con el ámbito cultural, social, científico o artístico del mundo de habla hispana en el cual el estudiante esté interesado por motivos académicos. El estudiante puede elegir el horario que mejor le convenga. Este programa se puede contratar a partir de cinco horas, y otorga créditos a partir de 20 horas = 2 créditos, 30 horas = 3 créditos y así sucesivamente. Este curso es para estudiantes de nivel intermedio alto, avanzado y perfeccionamiento.
Los estudiantes que cuenten con el nivel apropiado de español, tendrán la oportunidad de seleccionar cursos pertenecientes a los diferentes programas de licenciatura y postgrado de las facultades de la Universidad Veracruzana de acuerdo a su perfil y necesidades académicas. La selección de los cursos está sujeta a la disponibilidad de los mismos, al cupo y aceptación de las facultades. Los cursos en facultad brindad al estudiante la oportunidad de desarrollar su habilidades lingüísticas y de inmersión al incursionar en la comunidad estudiantil universitaria de Xalapa. Este curso es para estudiantes de nivel intermedio alto, avanzado y perfeccionamiento.
Tiene como finalidad facilitar y coordinar el trabajo del estudiante extranjero que desee prestar un servicio de prácticas dentro de alguna entidad local. Las áreas en las cuales el estudiante puede incursionar son salud, educación, negocios y ecología.
