Adem\u00e1s, representa la distribuci\u00f3n m\u00e1s norte\u00f1a del g\u00e9nero en el extremo occidental. Esta rara planta habita en los relictos de bosque mes\u00f3filo de monta\u00f1a, uno de los ecosistemas m\u00e1s amenazados en el mundo; esta especie se encuentra sobre rocas k\u00e1rsticas, particularmente, en zonas cercanas a los afluentes de agua.<\/p>\n<p>Esta especie fue descrita por investigadores del Herbario CIB del Instituto de Investigaciones Biol\u00f3gicas de la Universidad Veracruzana, del Instituto de Biolog\u00eda de la Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico y del Instituto de Ecolog\u00eda (Xalapa, Veracruz). Esta planta se colect\u00f3 por primera vez en 1984 pero no se hab\u00eda colectado nuevamente. Este a\u00f1o se describi\u00f3 como especie nueva mediante un estudio que incluy\u00f3 una revisi\u00f3n general del g\u00e9nero <em>Ceratozamia <\/em>considerando evidencia geogr\u00e1fica, morfol\u00f3gica vegetativa y reproductiva y an\u00e1lisis molecular.
