UV – Vickers Indentation Images Data bank Obtained at 10 and 50 gf

Microscopic Vickers indentation images obtained from samples of hafnium nitride, titanium nitride, titanium-coated stainless steel and bilayers of titanium nitride and hafnium nitride. The images were acquired using a CCD camera attached to the Mitutoyo microdurometer model HM-125, of Micro and Nanotechnology Research Center of  Veracruzana University (Boca del Rio, Mexico).

The online publication of this Database began in July in 2018 and will be expanded periodically. Most of the images have a resolution of 640x x480 pixels and are in BMP format. Each image presents an indentation footprint with an approximately rhomboidal shape and an aligned orientation. This new set of images includes small indentations generated with forces of 10 and 50 gf.

In addition, the algorithm was applied to the set of Vickers indentation images available in the link www.uv.mx/personal/saudominguez/208-2/, obtaining comparable results in terms of relative error percentage, but with a significant improvement in processing time, reducing it by 26 seconds.
