Esta Especialización se inauguró en el año 1994 en coincidencia con la puesta en vigor del Tratado de Libre Comercio con Estados Unidos y Canadá (TLCAN). Tiene como finalidad formar profesionistas competentes que respondan con pertinencia a las necesidades de insertar a las organizaciones de forma competitiva en el proceso de globalización, aprovechando la apertura comercial de nuestro país con el resto del mundo.
Además, este programa exige un alto nivel de compromiso académico de sus estudiantes ya que forma parte del Programa Nacional de Posgrados de Calidad (PNPC) del Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACyT). Las becas CONACyT se solicitan y tramitan a través de la Coordinación del programa. El monto lo otorga el propio organismo siempre y cuando los solicitantes cumplan con los términos y requisitos establecidos en la convocatoria y estará sujeta a la disponibilidad presupuestal del CONACyT.

This Specialization was inaugurated in 1994, coinciding with the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement with the United States and Canada (NAFTA). Its purpose is to train competent professionals who respond with relevance to the needs of inserting them competitively in the globalization process, taking advantage of the commercial opening of our country with the rest of the world.
In addition, this program requires a high level of academic commitment from its students as it is part of the National Quality Postgraduate Program (PNPC) of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT). It is important to mention that CONACyT scholarships are applied for and processed through the Program Coordination. The amount is granted by the agency itself as long as the applicants comply with the terms and requirements established in the call and will be subject to the budget availability of CONACyT.
