Center for the Study of Philanthropy Offers International Fellows Programs
The Center for the Study of Philanthropy (www.philanthropy.org/), a program of the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, is accepting applications for its new Senior International Fellows Program and for its International Fellows Program.

Senior International Fellows Program: Provides professional development training for third-sector practitioners from outside the United States. The program is designed to help build third-sector capacity in the fellows’ home countries. Fellows are based at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, where they attend weekly seminars, learn about the work of key agencies and foundations, meet with nonprofit representatives, and study us and international community foundation models. The topic for the year 2003 will be community foundations.
Fellows will participate in a one-month seminar on the us and international voluntary sectors. Each fellowship covers the cost of tuition and includes a $1,300 stipend to cover living expenses. The center will also provide suite accommodations at International House (adjacent to Columbia University), as well as round-trip air tickets for travel to and from the us. The program is open to senior-level practitioners over the age of 35 who are citizens of countries other than the us.

Applicants must speak and write English fluently. Candidates must have a strong institutional base and a clear interest in working with the community foundation model. Deadline: July 15, 2003.

The International Fellows Program 2004: Provides leadership training through applied research and professional mentorship for young scholar-practitioners in the nonprofit sector. The program is open to scholars and practitioners from outside the us to help build third-sector capacity in the fellows’ home countries.
Fellows design and pursue a research project and participate in internships with foundations. The topics for the year 2004 will be community foundations and diaspora philanthropy. Fellows will participate in a three-month seminar on the us and international voluntary sectors. Each fellowship covers the cost of tuition and includes a $1,300-per-month stipend to cover living expenses. The center will also provide single-room dormitory accommodations with shared facilities at International House (adjacent to Columbia University), as well as round-trip air tickets for travel to and from the us.
